My roots are in the Philippines, but I'm proudly American. Above all, however, I'm a citizen of the world! I love traveling, and I have a penchant for learning languages, and meeting new people. I have always been intrigued by the elements of our cultures that make us unique--our beliefs, practices, traditions, food, and art--as well as those we share across borders. Multiculturalism is my very essence.

 

My name is Vanessa J. Panaligan, and this blog is dedicated to exploring different parts of the world and the cultural impressions they've had on me.

The name of the blog, Tumbleweeds, refers to the dry plant that tumbles about, going wherever the wind blows. Like tumbleweeds, when we travel, we find ourselves in new surroundings wrapped up in new experiences--new sights, new sounds, new people, new perspectives!

 

I share with you now my own cherished memories of my explorations of various corners of the world. Led by my curiosity and thirst for cultural immersion, I journeyed to discover and savor the sights, sounds, sensations, and interactions.

This blog is here to inspire. In all sincerity, I hope it ignites something in you to explore the diversity of our world and to champion peace through culture.
