Vanessa J. Panaligan is an international relations professional based in Washington, DC.

 

When inspiration strikes, she paints landscapes and still lifes with oil on canvas. Vanessa credits her mother for endowing her with an appreciation for aesthetics at an early age and recalls always trying to outdo her classmates in art projects.

 

Vanessa is self-taught in painting and enjoys going to museums and scouring art history books on Impressionism and Post-Impressionism to study how others would tackle technical problems of capturing light and giving depth to make scenes come to life. She is captivated by the brushstrokes and palettes typical of these genres and the reverie-like images they create. Vincent Van Gogh and Camille Pissarro top her list of favorite artists.
